we still don't know how to race kites.

Today was the second broadcast of PMS (Politics, Music, and Sex) and let me just say it was "KICK-ASS". I swear I've been saying that everywhere, but it was. Maybe even a little more than kick-ass. I would have posted the picture from the studio today but after I uploaded it, my brother deleted it. [jdshajhjasjf!] So, I'll give you our radio station logo instead.

Here's a rundown of what we discussed on tonight's broadcast:
- Obama buying commercial time from MTV Networks on Comedy Central, Spike, and VH1. Obama is the first presidential campaign allowed to buy time from the network because it never did before.

- For all the black republicans on campus, I gave a link to a blog by an avid black republican from Chelsea named Richard Ivory. http://www.hiphoprepublican.com/

- Then we discussed how race shouldn't play an issue in this campaign and that being black doesn't mean you HAVE to vote for Obama. (We then received a couple IM's from listeners in the cafetera, one of them being a member of the College Democrats! He was extremely happy that we were talking about politics and even wanted to bring up some members for a discussion. We're in the works of making that happen.)

-After a few more songs, we talked about one of our love to hate topics: Miley Cyrus. I mean, we are a show about Politics AND Sex (or in other words, gossip). Discussed her major sweet sixteen at Disneyland and how much each guest paid just get in.

- Then we discussed various little things like my new hair (which btw, I chopped off), a follow-up on the debates and last week's "Upcoming Artist", Racing Kites, and some events going on around campus.

- Finally, the "Upcoming Artist" of the week were my favorite guys, HONOR SOCIETY (www.myspace.com/honorsociety)!

Here's the playlist from tonight's show:

our time now - plain white t's
t-shirt - shontelle
get back - demi lovato
watch dem roll - sean paul
roots from branches - room for two
lovebug - jonas brothers
all night is alright - racing kites
superstar - lupe fiasco
driveway - miley cyrus
unpredictable - honor society

also, my parents left for France tonight and I'm kinda bummin' out now while watching Supernatural.

Oh, and I'm going to go see The Veronicas tomorrow! The whole reason for my previous blog was to win passes into their private party hosted by the yahoo! music channel, yaz, and in touch weekly at Crash Mansion. I did not win, but my friend Paula did and she was kinda enough to invite me! so, that's all for now folks.

So I'm definitely always listening to all sorts of music and whether YOU think I have good taste or not, you can't deny the catchiness of these Aussie girls AND they have a webshow starting up on yahoo. =] so here's my plug for the moment.

count 'em.

it's already october and i haven't written since september 13th. but truthfully, there hasn't been anything interesting since then...ok, i lied.

i really have no excuse for not writing, especially since i have so much to share. so, hopefully this post will make up for it.

1. i turned 19. to celebrate my bithday, i worked. no lie. on the saturday before my birthday, i had planned to go to RainDance NYC. what the hell is that might you ask? well, it's dancing under the brooklyn bridge on pier 17 to afro-brazilian beats and live percussion. it woulda been really nice. however, tropical storm kyle threatened the plans so i cancelled it. what's worse is that i started a new job in the mall (Photolosophy) and i work saturdays, so had to close.

here comes the best part. my friend comes to pick me up and as we're making a turn to get empanadas, she drives into an ambulance. yes, an ambulance. a parked ambulance. here's the damage:

a scratch that we could have fixed with a sharpie. now here's my friend's damage:

yeouuch.

after that adventure, we went back to mi casa and had red velvet cake. superb. on the day of my actual birthday, september 29, harold and i went to Rock Battle NYC. new york's top 5 bands competed for a spot to open for Dashboard Confessional and Panic at the Disco at the Prudential Center. oh yeah, chris carraba was there <3>

2. i have my own radio show. this was the first week of P.M.S. (Politics, Music, and Sex). it airs every Thursday from 5:10-6:10pm on WSJU The Voice (or rather, St. John's University radio station). this week we (as in me and Camay, the REAL DJ) talked about Palin/Biden's debate (well, told everyone to tune in because it happened after our broadcast), dscussed Jessica Alba's "provocative" new ad for the Declare Yourself campaign. go to justjared.com for pictures. we also brought up Britney Speaers, Beyonce, and Justin Timberlake in the mix. i also introduced to St. John's radio, the band Racing Kites, and played their song 'Call it Sunrise'.

if you want to tune in, you most certainly can! you need to have the latest version of AIM (i know i didn't like change and had my AIM one of the oldest versions it had, lol). listen live on the WSJUradio aim profile =]. So add us! You can also IM us during the show: request a song (hopefully we have it to play it), talk about something we mentioned on air, or just say hey.

also, if you're looking to be "interviewed" hit me up on myspace/facebook. i'm going to be contacting bands to head up to the studio for exposure!

so don't forget to tune in! i'll have pictures of me and camay in the studio next week. =] oh, and here's the playlist from our first broadcast in no particular order:

play my music - camp rock soundtrack
in the ayer - flo rida ft. will.i.am/fergie
crush - david archuleta
let the drummer kick - citizen cope
damaged - danity kane
live your life - t.i. ft. rihanna
paper planes - m.i.a.
miss independent - neyo
disturbia - rihanna
call it sunrise - racing kites

3. mentioned in MTV Buzzworthy: so as you should know if you've been keeping up with my blog, that i'm the managing editor and write, as well, for a little online magazine called JOBROMANCE Magazine (yes, about the Jonas brothers, shut up). well, one of our writers (Megan) was able to interview the journalist from MTV about her 2-day live coverage of the boys back in August. now i had the opportunity to edit this specific article, and i'm glad that even though the mention was only because the blogger was the one being interviewd, it still feels cool.

so, if you haven't, go to www.jobromancemagazine.com and download the summer issue and this current issue for fall.

here's the MTV mention link:
http://buzzworthy.mtv.com/2008/10/02/jonas-brothers-live-mobile-featured-in-jobromance-magazine-you-like-us-you-really-like-us/

4. my OWN magazine? my friend and i have been contemplating over creating our own online magazine for a while now and we may be making moves on it very soon. so, i'll put it out to there to my empty blogosphere world, that if you wish to be a part of it, just let me know. it'll be a mag about everything and anything.

5. BATTLE OF THE BANDS. ok, so since i'm officially unofficially helping to manage my boyfriend's band, here's my shameless plug of their upcoming show. keep OCTOBER 26 FREE! the band's name is FALL OF THE ALBATROSS (www.fallofthealbatross.com) and all you need to do is scream and support 'em at the show! here's my first attempt at making a flyer:

contact me if you need tickets.

anywho, this is a seriously long post and i plan to update this more frequently because of the radio show & online magazine business. KIT.

saturday, the 13th.

my interview with Phil Bensen (www.myspace.com/philbensen) is up on Hot Vibes Magazine's website. Please go check it out. It is not labeled with my name, just know that I did the interview =] heres the link : www.hotvibes.com

in other news, i began school a couple weeks ago and it's back to the same grind, as usual. i'm sending in my first article assignment back to my editor for The Torch, my school's newspaper, tonight. i'm going to be turning 19 at the end of the month. i need to do laundry and clean my room. i'm listening to coldplay.

i want to leave new york so bad. at least just get in a car and drive away for a few hours. i need civilization to disappear for just a few human seconds. it's easier to collect the pieces of myself if there's no one else to distract me. sorry for the ramble, my dear blog, but that's what you're here for.

other upcoming events, besides my day of birth, is this friday's photoshoot with the band. check 'em out: www.myspace.com/fallofthealbatross and hopefully daniel radcliffe.

my theory.

i can honestly say that i don't thrive on music or movies or art. i thrive on life and every aspect of it: friendships, love, experience. i've only just begun to notice how robotic everyone around me really is. they all listen to the same music, watch the same tv shows, rave about the latest fashion trend. although, don't get me wrong, i definitely get in on that, too. i'm guilty of all the things i'm about to mention but now i just think that there's way more to life than that. if we're stuck trying to discover new music but always remain in the same genre, what are we really trying to discover? if we watch the same tv shows and same generic movies, how are we really still being entertained? if we go out and buy the same clothes and dress the same way as everyone else, are we really any better than the people we critize for being so bland? no, we're not. from the way i see it, we all want to be different in some way or another, but we all end up in a mold anyway. we want to be edgy, so you do drugs. half the world does drugs. you want to be pure, half the world is pure. you want to scream and be obnoxious, well guess what? there are so many more people JUST LIKE YOU. if we stopped concentrating on what we do, who we want to impress, and what we have been MOLDED to act, we'd be happier people. we'd be healthier people. we'd be real 'individuals'. we wouldn't look at the next person's jeans and envy it. we wouldn't go to a concert because EVERYONE is going to be there, but you.

...and then i wake up.
