so i've had a livejournal (or LJ) since I was about 14, but i only used it to browse around for icons and such. it wasn't until lately that i realized how much history LJ has. unlike this new and fanstically boring blogspot, LJ has been around for years. for me, it began with my love for the summer olympics four years ago. anyway, all that information is besides the point. i stumbled across this journal for a girl who will forever remain anonymous but has been coined by the public as "13". her journal is a reflection of her life, a girl struggling with an illness. it's really touching and everyone should at least read one of her entries. she was predicted to only live until february 2008, but has surged on through march.
after my mother was diagnosed with cancer in my senior year of highschool, i've become so much more aware and sympathetic of illnesses. like mentioned in my entries from the philippines, most of my prayers are for all of you. i pray for your well-being, your safety, your health, and happiness. the lowest point in my life was when i had to go with my mother every month to Memorial Sloan-Kettering cancer center in Manhattan. it hurt so much just to sit there amongst other cancer patients, trying to be strong for them and more importantly for my mother. the pain of having someone close to you with a disease sometimes became unbearable, so i can't even grasp the idea of having the illness yourself. it's stories like "13"s that unite people in prayer and hope. so i shall pass on the torch, hopefully you do, too. her link is on my sidebar.
on a much, much happier note, I video-chatted with a friend from arizona last night and she brought to my attention the fact that my concert is a week away. it really hasn't hit me yet. it feels like it's still months away. i wish there was a word that could truly describe how i feel about my excitement but i can't seem to formulate right now. and to tie this all together with the story of "13", nick j will peform "a little bit longer" which is a song about his fight with diabetes. there won't be a dry eye from me during that song.
" Waitin' on a cure But none of them are sure A little bit longer and I'll be fine But you dont know what you got 'til it's gone And you dont know what its like to feel so low.And everytime you smile or laugh you glow You dont even know, know, know."
